After four-time Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) candidate Dr Kizza Besigye declaring that he will not stand for President in the 2021 polls, Uganda’s strongest opposition party is set to have a new face on the presidential ballot.

The two candidates for Presidential flag bearer in FDC were yesterday nominated to compete against each other.  Patrick Oboi Amuriat and Wasswa Birigwa have both promised to take on President Museveni with the view of changing the way the country is run.

Ambassador Waswa Birigwa who has been the FDC National Chairperson said his first 100 days in office will focus on liberating Ugandans from poverty. He said each Ugandan will receive a token of Shs100000 per month.

“When I become President, the first thing I will do is pass a legislation in Parliament which I will bring as President to make sure that every Ugandan is paid 100,000 shillings per month as a startup capital,” said Birigwa.

He said the current regime has abandoned its people especially those that live in the villages.

Birigwa and Amuriat will campaign across the country after which delegates will elect their preferred candidate to run for President.
