NRM Legal Director Kihika: I feel sorry for the petitioners, it’s only 20% of the evidence collected that’s useful, the rest is wolokoso

National Unity Platform leader and presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine yesterday filed a petition at the country’s highest court to challenge the re-election of President Yoweri Museveni in the January 14 polls. Bobi Wine wants the supreme court to nullify the victory of Museveni.


While appearing on NBS, the National Resistance Movement legal Director Oscar Kihika however said that although NUP had 15 days to prepare and they have three days to respond they are firm because they started preparing for the petition early enough and the law is against the petitioners.


“It would be silly not to prepare for an election petition. You start preparing early so that when the petitions come, you are prepared and to be honest the law is so much against the petitioners,” said Kihika.

He added that the grounds are always constant but the facts are always different with a constant common line; intimidation, violence.
“I feel sorry for the petitions, it is only 20% of the evidence collected that are useful, the rest are ‘Wolokoso,” said Kihika.


According to the Judiciary spokesperson Solomon Muyita,nine justices will be available for the election petition and will be set to meet the parties involved in the petition for cross examination sometime next week.


“We are set, by next week we should be able to roll. We will have to observe social distancing in the courts. We will use a lot of technology and a few cameras in the courtroom,” said Muyita.
