Uganda’s COVID-19 recoveries reach 50,000

Uganda now has 73,401 confirmed cases of COVID-19 after 722 new infections were reported today Tuesday, June 22.

The breakdown of the new cases are: 722 Contacts and Alerts: Kampala (515) Wakiso (109) Tororo (32) Luwero (25) Gulu (12) Nebbi (10) Mbarara (4) Jinja (4) Hoima (2) Mukono (1) Kalaki (1) Kabarole (1) Nakaseke (1) Mbale (1) Busia (1) Arua (10 Kikuube (1) Ntungamo (1).

The health ministry also announced 291 new recoveries, raising the country’s total recoveries to 50,085. Meanwhile, deaths are up by 34, bringing total fatalities to 714.

The ministry also reported a positivity rate of 17.4% out of 4,144 tests in its bulletin.

To support the on-going COVID-19 response, the Aga Khan Development Network donated 26,400 N90 Face masks, 528,300 Surgical masks, 23,000 Qiaamp RNA mini Kit 250T and 22,656 SARS-CoV-2 RT- PCR kits. This donation was received by Health Minister Dr Jane Ruth Aceng.
