With the polling day drawing close, the Forum for Democratic Change spokesperson Hon. Ssemujju Nganda has warned the ruling party Nationally Resistance Movement on allowing armed personals inside the polling stations.

Ssemujju said that the law doesn’t allow armed personals at polling stations and incase the government intends to deploy soldiers they opt to explain why.

“The laws don’t allow an armed person inside a polling station. All NRM people think the UPDF is part of the NRM structure. Even when you are going to deploy for purposes of elections, you explain,” said Ssemujju.

He added that the Electoral commission is supposed to explain to both the police and the ordinary voters about the set voting guidelines.

“EC must explain the polling day guidelines to police and the ordinary voters. We don’t want draconian regulations that will be announced on the day of the elections.,” Said Ssemujju.

Ssemujju also applauded EC for its early preparations adding that the commission is trying to do things early to avoid what happened.

“In the last elections, I was shocked that in Kibuli, voting materials arrived at lunchtime. What this particular EC has tried to do out of fear, they have done things early enough, such as packing the ballot boxes and papers,” Ssemujju
