Katikkiro Mayiga calls for mass empowerment of young people living with HIV to reduce on new infections

Today on Thursday, April 22 has marked the four-day 5th edition of the #YPlusSummit 2021. It has been held under the theme Opening Opportunities has been a platform for Young People Living with and those affected with HIV/AIDS to share and learn about prospects out there for them.

Buganda Kingdom Premier, Owek Charles Peter Mayiga has been the Guest of Honour for the last day of the National Assembly for young people living with HIV in Uganda.

While Addressing the Y + Summit, Mayiga thanked them for being brave before encouraging them to use the available opportunities since they are still young and energetic.

The Katikkiro said government and other stalk holders should carry out mass empowerment of young people living with HIV to save the future generations. He also urged the young people to actively participate in their own care as it will reduce on new infections.

The summit was also graced by Swedish Ambassador to Uganda Amb. Per Lindgärde, UN Resident Coordinator H.E. Rosa Malango with Acting UNAIDS Country Director, Mr. Jotham Mubangizi and UNYPA Executive Director, Mr. Isaac Lekdyang.
