Kobs hold nerve at Pirates to win the Guinness 7s Mileke Circuit

Betway Kobs were impressive yesterday as they came strongest against hardboiled Stanbic Black Pirates in the Guinness 7s Mileke circuit.

To reach the final, Kobs beat Warriors, Rams, and Jjengo to top Pool A. They maintained their strong start even on the quarter and semi-finals where they defeated Mongers and Heathens respectively on 19-7 and 21-19.

On the other hand, Pirates was ensuring riot against its opponents. They sailed past Hippos and Buffaloes on quarter and semi-finals.

The final lived up to expectations as Kobs and Pirates tussled neck to neck until the final whistle. Nonetheless, Kobs stood firm and defended the title with a score of 21-17.

Kobs claimed Shs500,000 for winning the circuit with Joseph Aredo pocketing an extra shs250,000 for MVP of the tournament while Karim Arinaitwe was named upcoming player of the tournament

Kobs Lead the series with 22 points followed by Pirates with 19 and heathens coming in at a close third with 17 Points. Buffaloes come in fourth with 15 points followed by Hippos with 13 and Impis with 12.

There are five Circuits still on the card with teams gearing up for the Gulu 7s on October 9 which is going to be hosted by Gulu Elephants. The next stop will be Soroti on October 16. The other circuits include the Rujumba 7s that will be hosted by the Black Pirates on October 30/31, the Kabale 7 s on November 6, and lastly the Coronation 7s that will be held at legends on November 13/14.
