Hajj Abubaker Kawooya the father to the late Assistant Superintendant of Police (ASP) Muhammad Kirumira is losing hope in being able to access his son’s pension as he says he has moved for over two years but the concerned authorities seem reluctant to effect the payments.

During an interview with one of the local radio stations, Hajj Kawooya expressed his concerns saying that he has spent a lot of money in transport to travel from Mpambire, Mpigi District to Police headquarters in Naguru to follow up the payments.

He says he has almost met with all the top-ranking officers who have continuously promised to handle his matter but no progress has been made.

According to Kawooya, he delivered all the documents they asked for.

“Police have had me walk for two years and now coming to three years but still they have not deposited any money on the account,” says Hajji Kawooya. He urges police to not be ashamed and openly tell him whether he will get the money or not.

On the progress of the murder case, Hajji Kawooya faults the government for failing to carry out proper investigations to exactly identify the killers of his son.

“The people they arrested, we are not sure if they are the real killers,” he says.

Afande Kirumira was gunned down on September 8, 2018 on his way home in Bulenga along Mityana road. He was shot dead alongside a female friend Resty Mbabazi. The two were riding in a black Toyota Corona registration number UAJ 228V that the assailants ‘showered’ with bullets.

The maverick officer is remembered for always speaking against the rot in the police leadership.
