Renowned Philanthropist, Barbie Kyagulanyi has through her Non- profitable organisation ‘Caring Hearts’ and expressed her dismay in the number of pregnant teenage girls.

“Today, I met new entrants to our “Teen Mothers skilling project” somewhere outside Kampala. Most of these teen moms got pregnant during the covid19 pandemic lockdown and they have no hope of going back to school when schools finally open,” said Barbie.

She also narrated how she opened up the HIV/AIDs discussion with these teen mothers that are aged between 17 to 19 years and have little knowledge on the deadly virus.

“During our routine chat, I opened up a discussion about HIV AIDS stigma, condom use and ARV’s. Our girls do not only become mothers at an early age, some of them contract HIV/AIDS the very first time they engage sexually. I would encourage us all to keep the discussion open,” Barbie stated.

With Schools still closed because of the coronavirus pandemic, Caring Hearts partnered with some community leaders from Kamwokya to make a difference in the lives of a number of pregnant school-going teenagers.

Caring Hearts Uganda is a non-profit organization that was launched in 2013 with an aim of empowering the youth and a mission to raise their standard of living.
