17 suspects escape from police cells in Jinja

Seventeen suspects have escaped from custody at the highly guarded Central Police Station in Jinja.

Sources reveal that some of the escapees are hardcore criminals that were arrested in several operations that were conducted in Jinja last week.

Also, sources within police also allege that they have received reports that some of the officers on duty compromised with bribes.

Police say that the search is on for these suspects as they are following up on leads and except that many of these will be apprehended by the end of the week.
