The local rugby governing body, the Uganda Rugby Union (URU), has postponed the Nile Special 7s tournament.

The 7-leg event that was scheduled to run across the country starting July 9, 2022, has been pushed to August.

According to the Union, the reason for the postponement is the busy schedule ahead, with their immediate focus being the 15s-international. The Elgon Cup is also in the mix later this month, and the 7s team will also be having an international engagement.

“We (thus) unfortunately have to postpone the Nile Special 7s. The postponement does affect the Regional 7s series, which feed into the National 7s and were already ongoing too,” reads the statement in part.
