Uganda Cranes has qualified for the 2022 CHAN finals in Algeria after defeating Tanzania 4-0 on aggregate.

The Crane beat Tanzania 1-0 away and this evening the team sealed off the qualification at St Mary’s Kitende with a 3-0 victory thanks to goals from Moses Waiswa, Richard Basangwa, and Roger Mato.

Uganda has played in the previous five editions (2011, 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2020), but the team has never gone past the group stages.

The 2022 edition of the tournament will be held in Algeria from January 8 to January 31, 2023.

Originally scheduled from July 10 to August 1, 2022, CAF rescheduled the tournament to January 2023 following an announcement at an executive committee meeting held on September 10, 2020, citing the postponement of the 2020 African Nations Championship to 2021 and the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Africa as well as the already-scheduled 2022 FIFA World Cup in November–December 2022.
