MP Zaake loses censure motion, Deputy Speaker Among demands apology in one week

Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament Francis Zaake has been censured from the position of Commissioner of Parliament for his alleged offensive communication against Deputy Speaker Anita Among.

In the voting that was conducted yesterday, 155 members of parliament voted in favour of the motion to remove Zaake, four voted against the motion while two votes were invalid.

A section of opposition MPs stormed out of parliament when the voting started.

Deputy Speaker Anita Among said Zaake will be required to apologise to the House within one week.

“Hon Zaake ceases to be a member of the parliamentary commission and he is required to apologize to the house within a period of one week,” said Among.

She further said, “I, therefore, ask the opposition to send in another name for a person who is going to replace him.”
