The Central Executive Committee of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party has endorsed Deputy Speaker and Bukedea Woman MP Anita Among as their flag bearer for the Speakership race.

The position fell vacant on Sunday after the passing of Speaker, Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanyah. He died in a hospital in Seattle, US, where he had been receiving treatment for about a month.

On Tuesday, a total of 13 NRM MPs expressed their interest in replacing Oulanyah.
