20 people confirmed dead, several injured as Link Bus involved in fatal accident

Sad news reaching us indicates that scores are feared dead while many are injured following a bus accident at Ssebitoli in Kabarole District along Fort Portal-Kyenjojo Road.

According to the traffic police spokesperson, Faridah Nampiima, so far 20 people have been confirmed dead, of whom thirteen are adults and seven are juveniles. Out of the twenty, eleven are males and nine are female.

“Their particulars will be made available in due course,” she said.

Nampiima disclosed that the accident occurred this morning at around 10.30 am, involving a link bus reg No UBA 003S that was traveling to Kampala from Fort Portal.

It happened 2 kilometers from Fortportal City at a place called Sebitoli. She revealed that the Kyenjojo police responded to the fatal accident.

Nampiima said that the injured have been rushed to Buhinga Hospital for first aid, while the dead are at the same hospital for postmortem.
