The Directorate of Criminal Investigations arrested a teacher accused of defiling a minor.

Belly Kirimwimana, a teacher at Ambrosoli International School, Bugolobi, was arrested for aggravated defilement of a three-and-a-half-year-old girl.

According to police, the teacher used to walk with the child under the guise of escorting her to the washrooms.

“Then he could use his figures inappropriately,” said police.

Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, said she reported it to her parents, who also reached out to the police. Enanga said the child was found with bruises and inflammation in her private parts.

“We thank the school headteacher and the parents for reporting this issue to the police,” he said.

Enanga urged parents of children in the boarding sections of schools to examine them for any child abuse cases during the holiday.

“Students continue to fall victim to sexual offenders, and as schools resume, police have anticipated a rise in similar cases with a likelihood of regular exposure of pupils to unfamiliar people,” he said.
