Comedian Dr. Hilary Okello has been the talk of the town for the last few days after his first-ever standup comedy show last Friday. The comedian held his first edition of Laugh at My People at the National theatre auditorium.

Ever since making a grand entrance into the comedy industry in 2016, Dr. Hilary has frequented several comedy platforms like Comedy Store, Comedy Black Friday, and Fun Factory’s comedicine among others.

After several years of performing on other platforms, he thought he was ready to stand alone and yes, he went for it.

The show was well attended with a full national theatre auditorium with people ready to see what the Doctor would deliver. When he got on stage at 9 pm, the crowd was ready and he did understand the assignment.

For one hour and 45 minutes, Dr. Hilary kept the audience laughing with his clean jokes that didn’t have to do anything with dirty language.

It is said that very few comedians can perform for more than hours and also few can be funny for more than one hour.

When Dr. Hilary got on stage, he left only after one hour and 45 minutes, and on top of that, his mouth was only shut when he grabbed a bottle of water that he placed on the side to take a sip.

The show had a number of standup and sketch comedians who were in the audience laughing at the jokes as he delivered one after the other.

According to Dr. Hilary, the Laugh at My People comedy show will happen every year in June. Laugh at My People was directed by Atonga Media and produced by Mark Gordon.
