Who is Brig Gen Robert Mugabe, the new Court Martial Chairman

Brigadier General Robert Freeman Mugabe has officially taken over office as the new chairperson of the Makindye-based Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) General Court Martial.

Brig Gen Mugabe was appointed to the position on July 13 2022 replacing Lt Gen Andrew Gutti.

Presiding over at the function in Makindye on Monday, the Chief of Defence Forces Gen Wilson Mbadi called upon Brig Gen Mugabe to continue using Lt Gen Andrew Gutti as his consultant while executing his duties.

Gutti’s term of office expired on June 9, 2022, and is headed for retirement at the end of the year.

Who is Brig.Gen.Robert Mugabe?

Before being appointed the chairman of the court-martial, Mugabe was the Adjutant General, headquarters Bombo, a position he served since 2020.

In April 2021, Mugabe was promoted from Colonel to Brigadier.

He also served as the Air Defense Division Administrative Officer and Division Operations & Training Officer in the same unit prior to his appointment as Adjutant General.
