Uganda Cranes’ qualification chances to the 2023 AFCON finals in Ivory Coast are hanging in the balance following a 1-0 loss to neighbours Tanzania at Suez Canal Authority Stadium in Egypt.

Simon Msuva’s second-half strike in the 68th minute was enough to give Tanzania bragging rights in the East African derby. The Cranes looked shaky the entire 90 minutes despite head coach Micho introducing youngsters; Allan Okello, Isma Mugulusi and Richard Basangwa at the start of the second half.

The results take Tanzania to the second position in the group with four points. Uganda stays at rock bottom with just a point.
