A 26-year-old bricklayer identified as Faizal Kasirye attempted to take his own life after facing rejection in his pursuit of a married woman. This happened in Nsumbi zone, located in Nansana Municipality.

According to Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan deputy Police spokesperson, Kasirye poured paraffin all over his body before igniting the flames with a matchbox.

Residents intervened swiftly and rushed him to Kiruddu Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment for severe burn injuries.

Owoyesigyire revealed that their investigations indicated Kasirye’s motive stemmed from his unrequited affection for a married woman, identified only as Nali. Despite pursuing her for a long period, Nali repeatedly turned down his advances.

The situation became particularly distressing for Kasirye when he spotted her at a local bar with her husband.

Owoyesigyire urged men to handle rejection with resilience and advised against resorting to such extreme measures.
