His presence at the Championships is especially noteworthy, as he becomes only the second Ugandan sprinter to compete in this distance since Davis Kamoga’s participation in 1997.

Set to return to the track this evening at 9:20pm, Orogot faces a formidable lineup of opponents, including renowned names like Noah Lyles, Letsile Tebogo, Erriyon Knighton, Andre de Grasse, and Zharnel Hughes. The race promises to be a thrilling display of speed.

Notably, he set a new Ugandan national record in the semifinals, clocking in at 20.37 seconds.

In the same championship, Orogot also showcased his versatility by reaching the semifinals in the 100m sprint, where he clocked a time of 10.37 seconds before being eliminated.

Fast forward to 2023, representing the University of Alabama, Orogot continued to make waves.
