In a high-stakes showdown, the Uganda Cranes are gearing up for a must-win clash against Niger in the last game of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. With their hopes of qualification hanging by a thread, Uganda is fully aware that nothing less than a victory will suffice.

As the Cranes enter this crucial match, they find themselves in third place on the Group log with 4 points. Their opponent, Niger, sits at the base of the group with only three points and is already out of contention. This matchup presents Uganda with a golden opportunity to secure their ticket to the upcoming AFCON tournament.

For Uganda, a win in this game would not only be a crucial step towards qualification but also a chance to redeem themselves after missing out on the previous edition. The Cranes had qualified for back-to-back tournaments in 2017 and 2019 but failed to make the cut in the last edition.

However, the road to qualification is not straightforward. The Cranes will also need some luck on their side as they have to hope that second-placed Tanzania is defeated by Algeria, who have already secured the top spot with a perfect record of maximum points from five games. It’s a scenario where Uganda’s fate hangs in the balance.

In their previous encounter, Uganda and Niger played to a one-all draw at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende. As the two teams face off once again, the stakes couldn’t be higher, and the Cranes are determined to soar to victory and secure their spot in the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations.

The game will be live on FUFA TV.
