Swangz Avenue, a renowned record label and production house, is gearing up for the release of its latest venture into cinema with the upcoming short film, “Taama.”

Following the success of their debut film project, “Rolex,” Swangz Avenue is set to premiere “Taama,” a 15-minute thriller and horror film. Directed by the in-house talent, Arthur Nsubuga, who is also an actor, producer, and colorist, the movie script is penned by Charles Kasozi.

“Taama” marks Swangz Avenue’s continued expansion beyond being a record label to establish itself as a content and production powerhouse. The production house aims to create top-budget visual content for various platforms, including television, online, advertising, and branding assignments.

According to director Arthur Nsubuga, “Taama” draws inspiration from real-life events, turning them into a gripping 15-minute narrative of thriller and horror. The hand-picked cast, including Christiano Okitwi, Shanitah Musa Zubedah, and Daniel Mushabe, reflects the director’s extensive experience in the Ugandan film industry and previous collaborations with these talented actors.

Scheduled for release on Swangz Avenue’s official YouTube channel on Friday, 17th November, the film is shot against the backdrop of Kampala.

“Taama” unfolds a cautionary tale, revealing that not everything that glitters is gold, as the fortunes of a kanaabe (washing bay worker) take an unexpected and nightmarish turn.

“We have been telling stories through music and television commercials for the past decade, and it is high time we translated these stories to the cinema. This is yet another step towards that agenda,” remarked Arthur, emphasizing Swangz Avenue’s commitment to diversifying its storytelling platforms.

Swangz Avenue, with a track record of producing memorable television productions such as Tusker Malt Conversessions and the MTN MoMo Nyabo series, has also been behind high-end commercials for various corporate and government clients. In the music realm, the production house has crafted music videos for a plethora of superstars, including Azawi, Bebe Cool, Sheebah, Spice Diana, Vinka, and Winnie Nwagi, among others.

For cinephiles eager to experience “Taama,” the short film will be available for streaming free of charge, aligning with Swangz Avenue’s commitment to making compelling content accessible to a wide audience.
