Indian Association Uganda sends off new batch of children for free heart surgeries in India

The Indian Association Uganda has sent off the third batch of five heart patients (children) for surgery in India.

According to the India Association Uganda, they have partnered with leading cardiac specialists and medical facilities in India to provide heart surgeries to needy children who are unable to afford such procedures.

Locally, they coordinate with various organizations, including the High Commission of India in Uganda, which provides free visas to all patients and their caretakers; Uganda Airlines, which offers concessions on tickets; and Rotary Ssese, which contributes to the surgery costs.

Under the Heart Surgery Project, the Indian Association of Uganda sponsors heart patients under the age of 14 for surgery at Narayana Hrudayalaya Hospital Bangalore. So far, two batches of heart patients (children) have been taken to India and undergone successful surgeries. The third batch is already en route to India.

Some of the children who were taken to India during the second batch earlier this year.

The project, which aims to provide high-quality healthcare, intends to take over 200 patients from different hospitals in Uganda for heart surgeries in India.
