Ahead of the Uganda Cranes’ return to the newly renovated Namboole Stadium (Mandela National Stadium) this Friday, significant renovations have been made at the stadium since last month when the facility hosted test matches.

The UPDF Engineering Brigade has installed 212 additional floodlights, providing optimal visibility on the pitch.

The floolights are already shinning.

Lt. Col. Peter Seku Kidemuka, the Project Engineer overseeing the renovation works at Namboole Stadium, says the floodlights they purchased are capable of generating approximately 2000 lux of light, making them among the best globally.

The dugout/technical area has also been upgraded with new comfortable seats that even have cup/bottle holders.

Kidemuka also reveals that other crucial areas addressed include access roads, ticketing, and fan safety to and from the stadium.

The Cranes, who have been playing home matches in different countries across Africa, will this Friday be playing at the newly renovated Namboole Stadium as they face Botswana in the World Cup qualifiers. The game is scheduled to start at 7 pm. Tickets are already on sale at Shs25k for ordinary seats and Shs50k for VIP seats.
