Pilsner Lager backs 20th edition of Masaza Cup

Pilsner Lager, a product of Uganda Breweries Limited, has announced its support for the Buganda Kingdom Masaza Cup tournament this year. The announcement was made during a media launch held at Bulange Mengo on Wednesday.

While addressing the media, the Katikiro of Buganda, Oweek. Charles Peter Mayiga applauded the Pilsner Lager towards the continuous support for the tournament and called upon the youth to maximize the 20th edition to grow and nurture their talent in order to compete at national level.

“The Masaza Cup is an opportunity for talented youth to showcase their talent in football as well as fostering relevant cultural ties through sport within the country, he added.

 The annual Buganda Kingdom Masaza Cup is aimed towards identifying and promoting young talent, culture preservation and unity through sports and games.

Speaking at the media launch, Matilda Babuleka, the UBL Marketing Manager mainstream beer noted that the nature of the sponsorship is predominately bound by mutual interests between Pilsner Lager and Buganda Kingdom to create a platform for talented youth to reach for more while highlighting the unifying role of culture in our communities.

“Our continued support towards the Masaza cup resonates with our dedication towards giving back to the communities in which we operate through talent development and direct socio-economic impact to the country as a whole” noted Matilda.

Once again, each of the 18 counties (masaza) within the Buganda Kingdom will be represented by one team to compete for this year’s tournament.

The tournament will begin with an opening match between the Bulemezi and the Bululii counties at the Kasana Luweero grounds this Saturday, June 22, 2024.
