President Yoweri Museveni has appointed Eddy Kenzo, whose real name is Edrisa Musuuza, as the presidential advisor on matters concerning arts and culture. Museveni made the appointment on Wednesday, August 21st, 2024.

Although the news has come as a surprise to many Ugandans, our sources reveal that Museveni held a closed-door meeting with a group of musicians on Tuesday at State House, Entebbe. The meeting was attended by Eddy Kenzo, Bebe Cool, Jose Chameleone, and Alien Skin, among others. Bebe posted a picture standing with Chameleone and Alien Skin in front of State House.

Eddy Kenzo’s fiancée, Minister Phiona Nyamutoro, has already congratulated him on the appointment.

“Congratulations on your well-deserved appointment, Kenzo. I am proud of you as always, love,” she posted on her X account.

Nyamutoro and Kenzo have recently been attending events together where the president is the Chief Guest, so the appointment is not much of a surprise.

Kenzo, who often speaks openly about being a school dropout, is not new to defying the odds. In 2014, he became the first Ugandan and East African artist to win the prestigious BET award with his song “Sitya Loss.” Since then, the singer has been on the global music mainstream, performing in different countries. He has also won many international awards, including the Nickelodeon Award.
