Evolve Africa announces a Marketing Council

On Tuesday 17th September 2024, Evolve Africa, a renowned marketing outfit unveiled the inaugural Evolve Marketing Council.

Evolve Africa is the organization behind properties like the annual Uganda Marketing Excellence Awards (UMEAS), Marketer Magazine, Women in Marketing Honors, Top 50 Marketers list, Top Campaigns of the month, and Marketer of the month among others.

According to Shafick Ssemakula, the Evolve Marketing Council comprises of respected members in the marketing, Public Relations, and communications sector.

A council of six renowned industry professionals has been appointed. These were selected based on leadership and contribution towards the marketing profession/brands, that demonstrated work experience and academic qualifications.

“The council is aimed at setting industry standards in our quest to celebrate and promote professional excellence in Marketing,” Ssemakula said.

They include; Dr Benedict Mugerwa, Ngulumi Immaculate Nabatte, Johnpaul Okwi, Jackie Rukare Namara, Rogers Anguzu, and Barbra Arimi Teddy.

Dr Benedict Mugerwa (PHD, FCIM, Chartered Marketer), is an accomplished and influential marketer and currently the Head of Professional Courses at Uganda Management Institute, UMEAS Judge (2022 to date). He is a Chartered Marketer, Fellow of CIM-UK and a PHD from the University of South Africa.

Ngulumi Immaculate Nabatte boasts of over 20 years’ experience in leadership and senior management across private practice, financial services and FMCGs, sectors. She is the current Chief Marketing Officer at Centenary Bank, and a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Marketing UK(FCIM), as well the Chartered Marketing Analyst (CMA) of American Marketing Association(AMA). She has been a judge at the UMEAS since 2022 to date.

Johnpaul Okwi, on the other hand, is the current Manager Sponsorships and Events at MTN Uganda, and boasts of over 12 years of experience.

He is a chartered marketer, member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing UK(MCIM), Chartered Marketing Analyst (CMA), and the UMEAS President since 2022, to date.

Jackie Rukare Namara is the CEO of Iguru Consult Ltd, and has over 20 years of experience in strategy, marketing communications, building and managing brands.

She is a Fellow, Chartered Marketer of Chartered Institute of Marketing UK (FCIM), and a UMEAS Judge since 2022 to date.

Rogers Anguzu, currently the Commercial Manager at Crown Beverages Ltd, and a UMEAS Judge since 2022, is an accomplished marketer with over 15 years of experience in various sectors including media, telecom, academia, Oil and Gas, and Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG).

Barbra Arimi Teddy is the other member of the council. She is an accomplished professional marketer with over 18 years of experience.

She is the current Head of Marketing and Communications at the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), the CEO Apprenticeship Alumni Association, and a board member at DFCU Group and. She is a UMEAS Judge since 2022.

“We are grateful for these six individuals for being jury members of the UMEAS for the last 3 years. As you might already know, the UMEAS have become Uganda’s most prestigious marketing accolade, and this move is aimed at consolidating the property and propelling it to greater heights,” Ssemakula added.

Ssemakula emphasized that the key roles of the Evolve Marketing Council shall include; one automatically becoming a participant jury for UMEAS, structured Publication of industry insights and articles, contributing towards industry policy formulation, leading thought leadership engagements that shape the industry.

“We are very pleased to have these distinguished industry captains as a part of our council, we believe their valuable insights and experience will contribute greatly towards the success of our growing list of programs,” Ssemakula added.
