I&M Bank continues giving spirit, donates to Kampala School for the Physically Handicapped, the Cancer Institute, and other communities

During their 50th anniversary celebrations in June, I&M Bank Uganda pledged to support the community in many ways, all through the year.

The bank has since engaged in a series of CSR outreach activities in different parts of the country.

On Friday, November 1st, the bank donated to the Kampala School for the Physically Handicapped, and the Uganda Cancer Institute and the Uganda Child Cancer Foundation.

The donations are part of the departmental CSR initiative that the bank undertook as part of its  celebrations for this year’s Customer Service Week.
Staff from the I&M Bank William Street branch, led by the manager- Barabara Kabengano, visited the Kampala School for the Physically Handicapped, and donated a range of domestic items, including a 6×6 therapeutic mattress, equip air poles, front walking frames, exercisers, assorted fine motor toys, crutches, fit ball-exercising balls, eats, and a board puzzle.

“We deeply appreciate this great gesture from I&M Bank. These items will make a real difference in the lives of our children,” said Florence Tweyambe, the school headteacher. “These donations will help us provide better care and support, and shall enable the students to engage more in learning and other activities. We are very grateful.”

The Legal and Compliance department of I&M Bank donated items to the children’s section of the Uganda Cancer Institute.

On the other hand, the bank’s legal and compliance department, led by Natalie Kironde- Head of Legal, and the Head of Compliance- Anna Maria Ajok, visited the Uganda Cancer Institute and Uganda Child Cancer Foundation, where they donated foodstuffs and detergents.

The I&M Bank Bweyogerere branch, led by the manager- Sadumu Kiremye, visited Kakajjo Primary School, an establishment in the neighborhood, where they donated scholastic materials to the pupils.
The Kololo branch, led by the manager- Joan Ndagire, also visited Shimoni Primary School, and donated scholastic materials.

On Tuesday, the bank’s Treasury Department visited and donated Shs 1m, as well as mattresses and domestic materials, to the Eseza Foundation, an organization that helps sick children with cancer-related illnesses, tumors, and accident victims to find funds for treatment.

I&M Bank CEO, Robin Bairstow, expressed his delight in seeing the bank’s teams actively participate in community support initiatives.

“It’s very touching to see staff from the different departments getting involved in giving back to the community. It’s a clear sign that by working together, we can really make a difference in people’s lives,” said Bairstow.

Before this week’s CSR initiatives, the bank’s Operations Department and Customer Experience Department donated domestic items to the Uganda School for the Deaf in Ntinda.
