35-year-old maid in viral video torturing 4-year-old girl sentenced to 40 years

Precious Tumuhirwe, a 35-year-old housemaid who was captured on camera brutally torturing a four-year-old girl in Kikoko Zone, Kira Municipality, Wakiso District, has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.

Tumuhirwe was arraigned today in Kira Magistrates Court before Chief Magistrate Shallon Niwaha on charges of aggravated torture of the child. She pleaded guilty, was convicted, and sentenced to 40 years of imprisonment.

The incident, which was captured on camera, occurred on December 27, 2024. The video went viral on social media, causing public outrage and prompting calls for the immediate arrest of the woman, with many demanding a life sentence for her actions.

Tumuhirwe was arrested in Kabale District on December 29 and transported to Kampala on December 30. She had been detained at Kira Police Station until today when she was brought before the court and convicted on her own plea.
