Ugandans aged 18 and above have until May 15, 2025, to review their registration details and, if necessary, transfer to a preferred polling station, as part of the ongoing National Voters Register display and update exercise.
The exercise, which began on April 25, allows registered voters to not only confirm their information but also change their voting location to a more convenient or appropriate polling station.
If you’re already a registered voter but have moved or prefer to vote at a different location, you can apply to transfer your polling station. To do so, you must prove that you currently reside in or originate from the parish where the new polling station is located.
Additionally, you must present details of your previous voting location to facilitate the update. Applicants can visit any of the designated update centres across the country, where voter registration kits are available, to complete the transfer process.
Transferring your polling station ensures you’re able to vote close to where you live, reducing the chance of being turned away on election day due to mismatched records.
The Electoral Commission emphasizes that displaying and updating the Voters Register is a vital step toward ensuring transparent, inclusive, and credible elections. It enables citizen participation and promotes democratic governance through accurate electoral data and stakeholder engagement.
For more information, Ugandans are encouraged to visit the nearest update centre or consult the Electoral Commission’s official channels.
