Sheikh Siliman Kasule Ndirangwa, the former Supreme Mufti of the Kibuli-based Muslim faction in Uganda, has died. He passed away on Friday, June 21, 2025, at the age of 62, according to close family members and senior Muslim leaders.
Sheikh Ndirangwa served as the spiritual leader of the Kibuli Muslim administration until his sudden resignation in April 2021. While his departure came amid internal tensions within the faction, he cited his decision as a step toward fostering unity among Muslims in Uganda.
Born in Kawempe, Sheikh Ndirangwa was widely regarded as a moderate and unifying figure within the Muslim community. During his tenure as Supreme Mufti, he championed socio-economic development, education, and interfaith dialogue.
He will be laid to rest today at his ancestral burial grounds in Kirayangoma, Masaka.
