Police in Nakasongola District have kicked off a manhunt for unidentified thugs who broke into the Finca Uganda branch in Nakasongola Town and stole over Shs192 million.
The incident is said to have occurred in the early hours of Monday. It was discovered on Tuesday at around 7:00 a.m. when the branch manager arrived for work and found that the bank premises had been broken into.
He reportedly contacted the police, who immediately arrived at the scene and recorded statements from key witnesses.
Savannah Regional Police spokesperson Sam Twiineamazima confirmed the incident, saying that four individuals have been arrested to assist with investigations. He also disclosed that, according to the statements, the thugs made off with Shs192,587,800, two laptops, and several other items.
Meanwhile, the bank premises are reportedly guarded by SGA Security, a private security company.
Finca Bank Uganda is yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
