Ugandan music icon Bebe Cool has touched down in Dar es Salaam for the Tanzanian leg of his “Break The Chains” album media tour, which runs from July 7th to 12th.

The “Love You Every Day” hitmaker arrived at Julius Nyerere International Airport to a warm reception from both local and international media, a clear sign of the anticipation surrounding his latest musical offering. His arrival in Tanzania follows a successful leg of the tour in Nairobi, Kenya, where he reconnected with a city instrumental to his musical journey in the late ’90s.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Serena Hotel, Bebe Cool shared his excitement about returning to Tanzania—calling it a cornerstone of East African music and unity.

“Tanzania holds a special place in my heart. It’s time for East Africa to rise together. If we can push at least 30 artists globally and even 10 make it, that will cause a ripple effect,” he said.

The 16-track “Break The Chains” album is a daring expression of artistic freedom, blending Afrobeats, Afropop, Afro-house, and Afrotech, while staying true to Bebe Cool’s signature storytelling style. The project features high-profile collaborations with Yemi Alade (Nigeria), Joshua Baraka (Uganda), and DJ Edu (UK/Kenya), among others.

While tracks like “Circumference” and “Motivation” are already enjoying widespread popularity, it’s the cross-border hits like “African Love” featuring Yemi Alade and “Cheque” with Joshua Baraka that are drawing critical praise for their unique sound and international appeal.

Though Bebe Cool has long had a presence on Tanzanian airwaves—thanks to outlets like Channel 5 and East African TV in the early 2000s—this marks his first comprehensive media tour in the country. The Tanzanian stop is being co-hosted by celebrated media personality Lil Ommy, with public relations support from Kenya’s Anyiko Owoko of Anyiko PR.

As his East African tour continues, Bebe Cool has teased upcoming appearances in Rwanda, Nigeria, and more countries across the continent, as he pushes to elevate East African music to new global heights.
