Tonny Sseggujja, a resident of Nyanama-Lubaga, has been killed by a jackfruit tree he had been hired to cut down. The incident happened on Monday.
According to locals, the tree stood on a piece of land currently under dispute. Earlier, another man who had been asked to cut it down abandoned the task after spotting a snake on the tree.
Sseggujja was later hired, together with Francis Galabuzi and Robert Mulindwa, to complete the job. Their machine initially developed a fault but was repaired before they proceeded with the cutting.
However, as the tree came crashing down, it struck Sseggujja, killing him instantly.
Police officers responded to the scene, retrieved the body, and transferred it to the City Mortuary before releasing it to his family for burial arrangements.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
