Uganda Cranes have emphatically thrashed Mozambique 4-0 at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, this evening, keeping the team’s World Cup hopes alive.
The stakes were high for the Cranes, but they rose to the occasion, securing a commanding win in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Allan Okello opened the scoring, Roger Mato added a brace, and defender Elio Capradossi sealed the victory.

The win lifts the Cranes to second position in Group G with 12 points after seven games, level on points with third-placed Mozambique, with only three matches remaining. Algeria tops the group with 18 points after recording a 3-1 win against Botswana on Thursday.

Uganda will host Somalia on Monday, while group leaders Algeria travel to face Guinea. Mozambique will play host to Botswana.
The group winner will qualify directly for the World Cup, while the second-placed team will proceed to another qualification round.
