Newlywed singer Irene Ntale has set social media buzzing after openly expressing her expectations about financial responsibilities in marriage. Ntale, who recently married Vincent Kalibbala, said she believes a man should take full charge of running the home—especially when it comes to major expenses.
According to her, a well-structured household places the heavier financial duties on the man. She noted that school fees, rent, fuel and other big expenditures should never fall on a woman’s shoulders.
But while urging men to lead in providing, Ntale also cautioned women against abusing this setup. She said wives should not act helpless or overly dependent, especially when it comes to minor, everyday bills.
She gave an example of utilities, arguing that it is unreasonable for a woman to wait for a man to come home just to sort something like Yaka when she can easily handle it.
Ntale insisted that the balance is simple: men take care of the “big bills,” while women chip in on smaller necessities when needed, without being petty.
She added that there is another reason women should avoid taking on major financial roles—doing everything for a man, she said, might leave him with too much free money to spend elsewhere, including on other women.
