CNOOC Uganda Limited has introduced a free, online Enterprise Development Program designed to empower Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) across Uganda.

Running from Monday, October 28, 2024, to Thursday, November 7, 2024, this program offers specialized training aimed at helping local businesses compete effectively in the oil and gas supply chain and beyond.

Facilitated by Vectra Energies, the program is tailored to meet the specific needs of SMEs preparing to engage with Uganda’s fast-growing oil and gas industry. Participants will gain practical skills in business management, regulatory compliance, and a deep understanding of procurement processes within the oil and gas sector.

“Our goal is to build the capacity of local SMEs and equip them to seize the opportunities emerging in Uganda’s oil and gas sector,” said Mr. Liu Xiangdong, President of CNOOC Uganda. “We are committed to investing in local content and economic growth, and this program is part of our broader mission to ensure Ugandan businesses are ready to contribute meaningfully to the industry.”

The curriculum includes training on financial management, health and safety standards, technical skills, and strategic business planning, with a particular focus on meeting the high standards required in the oil and gas sector. By the end of the program, SMEs will have developed the skills needed to successfully bid for contracts and deliver quality services within the industry.

“This program is not just about imparting knowledge,” added Eric Jumba, National Content Manager, “but about equipping SMEs with actionable strategies that will allow them to thrive in a competitive market. By addressing the unique challenges faced by local businesses, we aim to support their sustainable growth and long-term success.”

Open to all Ugandan SMEs in sectors such as construction, logistics, hospitality, information technology, and more, the program encourages interested participants to register online through CNOOC Uganda’s website by Friday, October 25, 2024.

One of the program’s beneficiaries, Peter Mugisa, expressed his enthusiasm: “I’m thrilled to be part of this free learning opportunity and plan to attend every session. Thank you, CNOOC Uganda, for this great initiative. As an energy company committed to social responsibility, CNOOC Uganda Limited is dedicated to fostering National Content, enabling Ugandans to benefit from the opportunities in the oil and gas sector.”
