Raxio Data Centre, Uganda’s first Tier III certified, has unveiled its Uganda Data Centre Landscape 2025 report — a comprehensive analysis of the country’s evolving digital infrastructure space and its intersection with continental trends.
The report identifies four major forces reshaping the sector: increasing cloud adoption, the fast-paced rise of artificial intelligence (AI), tightening data governance and compliance requirements, and a heightened focus on sustainability in tech infrastructure.
It also sheds light on ongoing obstacles to digital transformation, including erratic power supply and the steep costs of infrastructure deployment.
Speaking at the launch event, Caroline Kamaitha, General Manager of Raxio Data Centre Uganda, stressed the critical role data centres play in underpinning economic growth and digital resilience. She called for collective action to boost Uganda’s digital future
“We are standing at a crucial crossroads in Uganda’s digital journey,” Kamaitha said. “Data centres don’t just support businesses—they empower everything from government services to financial systems, education, and health care. This report shows the urgent need for infrastructure that is secure, sustainable, and future-proof.”
As Uganda braces for a surge in data consumption—especially from fintech, telecoms, and government agencies—the report positions data centres as foundational to long-term transformation, particularly in the face of growing environmental and economic pressures.
“This report is more than just a snapshot of current trends; it’s a springboard for collective action,” Kamaitha explained. “We need coordinated efforts across sectors to overcome challenges and build a digital ecosystem that is resilient, scalable, and inclusive.”
According to data from the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), cloud computing in Uganda has grown by more than 30% over the past three years, and projections show continued expansion between 2025 and 2031. The growth is driven by SMEs, government entities, and tech startups increasingly opting for cloud-based solutions over traditional infrastructure-heavy models.
Raxio is at the heart of this digital shift, offering enterprise-grade infrastructure that enables cloud providers and businesses to tap into cost-efficient storage, compute power, and connectivity.
By promoting colocation and managed services, the company is helping organizations move away from capital-intensive builds and adopt flexible operational expenditure models.
Kamaitha explained the importance of ecosystem-wide collaboration, urging both public and private sector stakeholders to invest in extending digital access.
“We need to push for broader fiber and 5G coverage and harness public-private partnerships embedded in Uganda’s National Development Plan III to bring connectivity beyond urban centres,” she said.

With the release of the Uganda Data Centre Landscape 2025 report, Raxio aims to spark dialogue, encourage investment, and galvanize cross-sector partnerships to ensure that Uganda is equipped for the digital economy of tomorrow.
