This year’s Big brother Africa, has seen more twists than ever before. First was a fire that gutted the Big Brother House in Johannesburg South Africa just four days before the start of the show leading its postponement.

While the organisers called it an unfortunate incident, fans across Africa believe it was a stunt aimed at increasing the ratings of the show that have been on a steady decline since they first hit our screens 11 years ago.

The show’s producers, Endermol and M-Net  announced that the show, dubbed Big Brother Hot Shots, will now premiere on Sunday, October 5.

And the latest spin was Big Brother going against the norm of keeping housemates secret till the show begins. From Thursday, names of housemates have been revealed and first on the list was reigning Miss Uganda, Stella Nantumbwe, whose name has been sexed up to just “Ellah.”

Miss Uganda was conspicuously absent the launch of this year’s Miss Uganda Beauty pageant search at Speke Resort Munyonyo on Monday. Matookerepublic.com had got wind of Ellah being one of Uganda’s Big Brother representatives and asked Miss Uganda CEO Brenda Nanyonjo if the rumours making rounds were true.

“I don’t know her whereabouts,” is all Nanyonjo could tell us.

But when news came out that Nantumbe a.k.a Ellah was representing Uganda, Nanyonjo was not amused.

“I advised her against going for the show when she is still the reigning beauty queen, but she didn’t listen,” Nanyonjo told us.

“She is supposed to carry on Miss Uganda duties and nothing else until her reign is over,” Nanyonjo added.

What she was not clear about is whether Nantumbwe had been stripped of her crown. The only thing we are sure of is that she will not be around to hand over her crown during the Miss Uganda finals this October, if she goes far in the game that will go on for 91 days.

Meanwhile, former dancer Esther Akankwasa is the second representative.
