Lupita Nyongó continued her show stopping style streak at the opening of the 68th Cannes Film Festival in France on Wednesday.

The 32-year-old owned the red carpet, twirling happily in a pleated “grasshopper green” chiffon gown by Gucci.

People magazine declared her the winner of the Cannes red carpet, but what is more important for us at Matooke Republic is that the dress was inspired by the delicious Nsenene (grasshoppers) that are in season right now.

Lupita has been shooting the Queen of Katwe movie in Kampala, and a taste of the proudly Ugandan delicacy inspired her look.

Her hair was also inspired by Ugandan women.

“It’s #GrasshopperGreen for @festivaldecannes opening night. Thank you @Chopard @Gucci and Uganda’s women for the hair inspiration. #NseneneSeason.” She posted on her Facebook page.

After Lupita’s post, Nsenene is one of the most searched words on Google today and People magazine broke it down for the readers.

“If you’re about to do a quick Google search for Nsenene, we’re one step ahead of you: Nsenene is the Luganda name for grasshopper. The green insects are a cultural delicacy in Uganda and are in season right now!”
