MTN has jumped into the awards frenzy with their new MTN Caller Tunes Online Awards that have been announced this Thursday evening at Club Ambiance in Bukesa.

‪”MTN Caller Tunez Online Awards is a platform created to recognise and reward artistes and content producers with the most downloaded CallerTunez on the MTN Portal,” says MTN Uganda Chief Marketing Officer, Ms Mapula Bodibe.

“For artistes, ‪MTN Caller Tunez are fast becoming an alternative business model, complimenting other revenue streams like concerts and album sales. And for customers, they are constantly finding new ways of entertaining themselves. The phone is one channel that we’re enhancing to serve that customer need in simple and affordable ways,” Bodibe adds.

In this campaign, trending artistes and producers of content like recorded quotes, jokes, skits speeches or other sound bites will be rewarded for their work.

Are awards getting too many?

Almost every other day, someone is organising some form of awards in Uganda. However, MTN is a credible organisation whose awards will purely be based on info tabulated from their data bases on which artiste’s works are most used.

However, this is a marketing gimmick for the telecom giants to promote their Call Ring Back Tone (CRBT) sale.

We shall keep you posted on the developments.
