Events promoter and businessman Balaam Barugahare has denied the recent allegations that he has registered an NGO called ‘People Power’, as had been indicated by the rumours that circulated and stirred a storm against the events promoter across social media today.

In an exclusive to Matooke Republic, Balaam (through his lawyers, Muwema and Co. Advocates) revealed that the allegations that he had registered the NGO ‘People Power’ are false and aimed to tarnish his good name, an objective they have largely attained by ‘provoking on social media a hate campaign laden with insults and abuse against our client (Balaam).’ Balaam further revealed that the rumours were generated by one Andy Mukasa and his events company called Bajjo Events.

In the same exclusive, Balaam also revealed to Matooke Republic that his lawyers have written to Andy Mukasa, the director of Bajjo Events, expressing intention to sue him for the rumours which Balaam reckons were first produced on Bajjo Events’ Facebook page. In the letter he’s written to Bajjo Events, Balaam asks Andy Mukasa to retract the rumours by pulling down the post that originated them, to render an unconditional apology posted on the Bajjo Events Facebook page, and to pay to Balaam within 5 days damages of Ushs.1 billion as well as Ushs. 50 million to Muwema and Co. Advocates as legal fees.
