Uganda should also introduce a beauty pageant for disabled women –Woman MP for the Disabled

It’s a season of out-of-the-ordinary beauty contests in Uganda. Before the present hullabaloo regarding the just-introduced Miss Curvy Uganda pageant dies down, a legislator has mooted the idea of introducing anational pageant for disabled women.

Hellen Asamo,the Eastern Uganda MP for the Disabled Eastern, made the request yesterday as the august house deliberated the Miss Curvy pageant and minister Kiwanda’s cooments to the effect that Uganda’s curvy women should be used to attract tourists. suggesting the introduction of Miss Disabled.

According to Asamo, the pageant will help Ugandan men appreciate the disabled women.  The Member of Parliament made the call during a plenary sitting attracting great support from the august house.

“Honourable members, I welcome and support the Miss Curvy initiative. I also pray that we have a pageant for the disabled persons just like for Miss Albino which was launched recently. The Miss Disabled contest will provide an opportunity for males to appreciate the beauty of the disabled ladies,”Asamo said.

Beauty contests for the disabled are already a reality in countries like our neighbor Kenya, USA, UK, India, among others.
