The world’s most successful reality TV format “Got Talent” has finally been launched in Kampala. The show has come home as part of a regional contest that will cut across East Africa, dubbed “East Africa Got Talent.”

Its core aim will to be to promote culture, diversity, unity, globally showcase local talent while embarking on a journey to transform lives of different gifted individuals across the region. Celebrated comedian Ann Kansiime will be the host of the show.

During the launch, Kansiime urged Ugandans to participate in big numbers and show case their talent. She said because Uganda is a diverse country with a cocktail of ‘botanical cultural dances’ from different parts of the country, she would love to see some of those dances in the competition.

For those looking to participate in the show, East Africa’s Got Talent also comes with what’s perhaps the most accessible ever auditioning portal for any competitive reality show we’ve seen in the region. A Whatsapp number is to be provided for prospective contestants to send in a one-minute video showcasing their talent, before auditions take place on May 19,2019 at Pearl of Africa Hotel.

Those to participate from each country will be determined by a judge from their country, as the show itself will feature a judge from each of the four participating countries. And at the end of the auditions those who will have qualified for the grand show will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Kenya where they will meet with fellow winners from the sister countries to compete for a grand prize of $50,000 (Shs190,000,000).

East Africa’s Got Talent  is part of the ‘Got Talent; Franchise started in 2014 by British TV Producer Simon Cowell. The show will be adapted for the East African Market in partnership with Freemantle SYCO and Rapid Blue Production from South Africa. It will broadcast in 10 episodes which will start airing on NBS TV in August.

The show will be open to performers of any kind and runs across any age bracket including singers, dancers, instrumentalists, magicians, comedians and novelty acts.
