The Ugandan music industry has got a new kid on the block, and no, it is not Fresh Kid, but rather his father, Fresh Daddy.  Fresh from Luweero, Paul Mutabazi aka Fresh Daddy released the audio of his first song called Mazike to mixed reviews.

Mazike is a Luganda slang for Shs50,000 notes, and in this song, Fresh Daddy keeps saying that he is looking for those big notes. The song was produced in Mengo-based Bad Character Records.

Contrary to the fresh title in his name, Fresh Daddy’s voice doesn’t sound that fresh and at some point goes off the beat. We will forgive him on that because it is his first song, and we do not think he has received any vocal training before. Fresh Daddy keeps on saying his name, sending shout outs to people that have helped his son, and losing focus of what the real theme of the song is.

Although the song’s theme is spot on because we are all looking for money mazike as he terms it, its lyrical content is still lacking. The song was done in the presence of Kalifa Aganaga, an already established artiste so we would expect him to give him some kind of lyrical guidance.

Besides all the things that went wrong in this song, Mazike has taken Uganda by storm, and it already has over 23,000 YouTube views in less than a week of its release. We wish Fresh Daddy all the best in his new career and hope he gets all the mazike he wants.
