Song covers are important in music, as it shows how much a song is appreciated as well as bringing out different variations of how it might have been made. Some covers sound so meh and make you wonder why they were made, and others well, make you feel like you don’t want to listen to the original song anymore.

The budding songstress decided to cover Rayvanny and Willy Paul’s Mmmh, and we can say that she did it justice. Although the original version is in Swahili, Ssuupu is in Luganda with a few lines in English. The song was written by Trixc Moziah (SongBoss) and produced by Sidesoft from Zivuga studios.

The RnB single is pleasing to listen to, as Shammy K sings out her heart to a man she refers to as her Ssuupu (soup). Shammy’s vocals fall nicely on the re-mastered beat, to make the mid-tempo song clearly audible, as her relatively high-pitched background vocals come in to emphasize several lines in the lyrics. Ssuupu is yet to dominate local airwaves but we tip it to do relatively well.

The song is video ready, its visuals directed by Allan Soja from Afro Filmz, and we can say the script brings out the song’s theme, with alternating night, day, indoor and outdoor scenes. Shammy K is the latest breakout star from Mc Kats’ artist management company Kats Music.
