In recent years, Cinderella Sanyu alias Cindy, The King Herself has been applauded for her live performances every time she steps on to the stage that leave the crowd yearning for more.

The former Blu*3 member has built her reputation as one of the best live performers in the country, performing alongside her Band Cindy, but as with most things great, the beginning is not always rosy.

While speaking to journalists after her press conference that officially announced her upcoming show this weekend, Cindy narrated how she started her band, and the doors that were shut in the early stages of her band.

“I has been about five years but people have been hearing about it for the last two years. In the very beginning there was this thing that people thought a ragga artiste cannot do a live gig. Even the clients, it was so hard for us to get gigs,” Cindy narrated, adding that people would tell her to leave live band performances for kadongo kamu singers and Afrigo Band.

The Ayokyayokya singer said that when they finally got a few clients that took a chance on her band, they put in their best and in the end the clients loved them, although she also says that the money wasn’t that much so sacrifices had to be made. Nevertheless, the band has now grown to 15 members.

Currently, Cindy can look back at those struggling days and where her band is now and smile, as they brace themselves for their very first full-blown Tusker Malt sponsored-concert dubbed ‘Boom Party concert’ that is happening this Saturday at Lugogo Cricket Oval.
