Do Ugandans play too much? Here are their top 5 musicians of all time

Singer Eddy Kenzo, a Grammy Award nominee, is presently one of the most popular social media topics in Uganda.

His popularity is not related to a recent international nomination, but rather to his claims that he is superior to the late Philly Bongore Lutaaya.

When Kenzo claimed on Friday that the legendary Lutaaya has no song better than any of his because his (Kenzo’s) music videos on YouTube have received more than 100 million views, he infuriated a good number of fans and musicians.

Many people argued that Kenzo’s position is flawed, particularly since he bases his claim on YouTube, a relatively recent technological advancement.

Kenzo’s claim will have to wait, though, as we asked Ugandans on social media to list their top five musicians of all time, and the results are undoubtedly shocking.

A one Nyakojo Donavan Alecs said Fred Sebata, Afrigo Band, Juliana Kanyomozi, Philly Bongole Lutaaya, and Bobi Wine are her favorites of all time.

Kaweesa Aziz has Lydia Jazmine, B2C, Omega 256, Fik Fameica, and Carlo Natongo on his list.

“Paul Kafeero, Maddox Ssematimba, Bebe Cool, Mowzey Radio, Raga Dee,” Hero Royce Ironside commented.

Barongo Jr Rogers listed Philly Lutaaya, Bobi Wine, Jose Chameleone, Bebe Cool, and Raga Dee.

A one Eddie Waswa has Mesach Semakula, Juliana, Judith Babirye, Bebe Cool, and Fresh Kid on his list.

“Bobi, Madox, Juliana, Afrigo, and Radio,” Lyiney Caius commented.

Alpha Grace Karakire’s top 5 list has Elly Wamala, Philly Lutaaya, Maddox, Goodlife, and Chameleone.

Musa Ahemed only has Bobi Wine on his list.
