Ahead of the 35th-anniversary celebrations for StarTimes Media Group, the Pay TV giants unveiled Singer Spice Diana as the face of the newly launched TV channel named Makula KiKa. The tagline, “Ekirungo Kyekyo,” loosely translated to mean “The perfect spice.”

Makula KiKa reinforces StarTimes’ promise to promote and support local productions. Unlike Makula TV, which focuses solely on non-stop series, KiKa offers a perfect blend of local entertainment, featuring a cocktail of Comedy, Celebrity News (Poko Poko), African Movies, and hot Series in Luganda—a new offering for TV viewers.

Aldrine Nsubuga, Vice President of StarTimes, expressed pride in announcing Spice Diana as the official brand ambassador for Makula Kika, the new Luganda entertainment TV channel. He highlighted the natural fit between StarTimes, the largest pay TV provider in the country with a 60% market share, and Spice Diana, a prominent female artist in Uganda. He believes this partnership will resonate with both existing subscribers and new customers.

StarTimes customers can access Makula KiKa on channel number 229 on the antenna decoder and channel 493 on the satellite decoder, regardless of their chosen bouquet.

Kenneth Kazooba, Content Director at StarTimes, acknowledged the overwhelming success of MAKULA’s “Kazanyo Ku Kazanyo,” which created a demand for more variety, especially from new audiences. He emphasized that Makula KiKa aims to fulfill this need for variety and respond to subscribers’ thirst and demands.

Spice Diana expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to work with a prestigious company like StarTimes. She sees Makula KiKa not only as a platform to promote local productions but also as a means to create job opportunities for her fans, known as “Spice Gadgets.”
