“Bobi Wine: The People’s President,” a documentary on the National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi, has received an Oscars nomination for Best Documentary Feature Film.

It is nominated alongside ‘The Eternal Memory,’ ‘Four Daughters,’ ‘To Kill a Tiger,’ and ’20 Days in Mariupol.’

Bobi Wine’s documentary nomination comes just two weeks after winning the Audience Choice Award at the Cinema Eye Honors 2024 in New York, USA.

Directed by Christopher Sharp and Moses Bwayo, this observational film represents a six-year dedication to portraying Kyangulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, and his journey challenging the leadership of President Yoweri Museveni.

The documentary explores the singer-turned-politician’s use of music as a tool for activism and his role as an Independent Member of Parliament advocating for the rights of the people.

Meanwhile, the winners for the 96th Academy Awards will be announced on March 10 in Hollywood.
